Home Winning Streak Snapped by Clinton

Burlington, IA -Burlington Bees (14-32, 8-9) pitchers allowed five hits and four runs to the red-hot Clinton Lumberkings (27-18, 13-7).

The bats came up short, as the team lost 4-2 to snap a five-game home winning streak. Burlington left 7 on-base.

In his fourth game, Michael Carrano Jr (Parkland College) went deep for the first time. The catcher accounted for the only Bees run with a smash over the right field fence to get on the board in the second.

Clinton scored three in the third and one in the fifth. It was all the Lumberkings needed. They are now tied for the top spot in the division in the second half.

James Hackett (University of Iowa) went four innings in his first start. He allowed three earned runs on three hits, while striking out five. The hard thrower was charged with the loss.

Brady Richards (Sauk Valley CC) picked up where Hackett left off. After a run allowed in his first frame of work, he tossed three scoreless. The righty's final line was one earned run and two hits given up over four innings.

Erik Kiewiet (Mt.Mercy University) threw in the ninth, tossing a shutout stanza with two strikeouts.

Corey Boyette (Heartland CC) led the bats by reaching four times on a three for four day. He hit his first triple of the season in the third.

Cooper Donlin (Hawaii-Pacific) singled in the eighth to extend his on-base streak to 29.

Burlington travels to take on the Alton River Dragons (21-24, 8-11) July 23 at 6:35 p.m.
