Burlington swept by Jackson

Jackson, TN - Despite a run not scored until the bottom of the third, the Burlington Bees (5-22) capped off their three game set against the Jackson Rockabillys (17-8) with a 11-6 loss June 28 at Jackson Baseball Stadium.

Burlington has lost 11 straight and is 0-14 on the road this season.

In spite of the poor stretch, the team has scored six or more runs in eight of their last eleven, including in this game.

Once the scoring began in the third, the Bees put up runs in four straight innings. It began with two in the fourth on RBI's from Corey Boyette (Heartland CC) and Skyler Agnew (Hawaii-Pacific.)

After entering the fifth trailing 4-2, Burlington got runs in the fifth and sixth to tie the game. This came from RBI's off the bats of Landon Akers (Bellarmine) and Agnew. Agnew has 10 RBI's on the year.

Jackson put three more on the board in the sixth to make it 7-4. Singles from Boyette and Nick Meyer (Mt.Mercy University) scored two to bring the Bees within one. Boyette has five RBI's in his first four games of the season and has reached multiple times in each.

The 'Billys scored four unanswered in the seventh and eighth to put the game out of reach.

Burlington finished with 11 hits. Akers, Boyette, Agnew, Carson Bittner (Phoenix College)and Cooper Donlin (Hawaii-Pacific) each had a pair of hits. Donlin has reached base in 15 straight games, dating back to June 2, and has a batting average of .409

Bobby Helt (Lake Erie College) made the start, allowing four runs over four innings. The big-righty has the most innings on the staff with 28.

Zach Leuschen (Southeastern CC) threw a shutout inning with two strikeouts. Jimmy McCarthy (Morton College) allowed three over 0.2 innings to pick up his first loss of the year. Vinny Mauro (Des Moines Area CC) threw the final 2.1, letting up two earned runs.

Burlington makes its second to last stop on the team's longest road trip of the year June 29, taking on the Cape Catfish (12-15) at 6:35 p.m.
