Blow Out Sends Bees to Road Trip

Burlington, IA - A six run rally in the bottom of the third gave the Burlington Bees (5-18) the lead, then disaster struck. The Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp (16-7) scored 12 unanswered runs to win 17-6 and extend Burlington's losing streak to seven today at Community Field.

The Bees allowed 20 hits. Burlington relievers gave up 12 earned runs in a rough effort from the bullpen. The team even brought in outfielder Jackson Reid (Chandler Gilbert CC) to pitch for the final two outs.

Cedric Dunnwald (Mt. Mercy University) led the bats with a three for five day with an RBI. Scotty Savage (Milwaukee Area Tech) and Luke Bragga (Tennessee Tech) both had a pair of RBI's.

Head Coach Owen Oreskovich was ejected in the seventh inning, his second straight game getting the boot. He disagreed with a call by home plate umpire Dana Wilson at third base, leading to the ejection.

The Bees move to 5-8 at home and 2-6 against Illinois Valley this season.

Burlington leaves on a six game road trip, beginning on June 25 at the Cape Catfish (10-12). The team returns home July 2 in a matchup against the O'Fallon Hoots (13-9) at 6:30 p.m.
