Burlington Runs Out of Magic

Clinton, IA - In a game that consisted of an over two hour rain delay after the third inning, Burlington (4-11) entered the eighth without a hit and trailing four runs on the road to the Clinton Lumberkings (10-5) June 16.

Once the floodgates opened, the Bees rallied and tied the game. The team allowed a run in the bottom of the inning and did not have the answer in the ninth, losing a heartbreaker to remain winless both on the road and against Clinton.

Kinnick Pusteoska (Tennessee Tech) registered the first hit of the game for the Bees, smashing a two-run bomb into right field. This was his second home run of the year, the first Burlington player to multiple blasts.

Reese Moore (University of Iowa) registered an RBI on an infield single, racing out the throw to first to reach safely. Moore has brought home nine runs on the year.

Luke Bragga (Tennessee Tech) plated the tying run on a walk for his second RBI of the season. The Bees would go on to strand three on base.

Four Burlington pitchers were used, with Jacob Sjuts (Des Moines Area CC) making his first start and going two shutout innings to open the game prior to the rain delay. Sjuts did not start a game in college and only allowed a single hit in this game.

The Bees have lost two straight and look to bounce back June 16 at Community Field in their first game against the Normal Cornbelters (8-10). First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m, with the game being Mascot Mania.
