Bees Fall Short in Extras, Wolhers Throws Five Shutout in Start

Jackson Wolhers (Rock Valley College) threw the most innings of any Burlington starter this season June 5, pitching five innings and giving up just two hits and no runs. He has thrown eight total innings this season to a 2.25 ERA.

The Burlington Bees (2-4) went punch for punch on the road with the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp (5-3) all the way until the 10th inning, but fell 8-7 in the second straight extra-inning game between the two.


The game began defensively, with the Bees leading 2-0 after five and a half innings. Jackson Reid (Chandler-Gilbert CC) registered his first RBI of the season in the third to open the scoring, and Cooper Donlin (Hawaii-Pacific) followed with his team-leading fourth RBI of the season three innings later.


Jackson Lindquist (Rock Valley College) and Reese Moore (University of Iowa) both tallied RBIs in a three-run seventh inning for Burlington.


Illinois Valley went on to tie the game at five in the bottom of the eighth, where Moore brought home another run in the top of the ninth. Moore finished with one run, two hits and three RBIs.


Boston Halloran (Oakland) and Skyler Agnew (Hawaii Pacific) both had a pair of hits, with Agnew giving the Bees the lead in the top of the 10th with an RBI single. The Pistol Shrimp scored two in the bottom of the inning to take the victory.


Burlington returns home to play their third straight against Illinois Valley June 6 at 6:30 p.m. The game is Throwback Thursday: '70s Disco & Diamonds Night at Community Field.
